Building and evaluating «digital AMR literacy» to combat AMR (DigitalAMR)

This project aims at building and evaluating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) literacy in the context of India.

About the project

The DigitalAMR project aims at engaging with the fundamental challenge of lack of awareness and knowledge about antibiotics and AMR in India. The project will employ co-construction approaches together with community members, care providers and other researchers to build digitally enabled relevant content and developing systematic methods of evaluation to understand the impact of these interventions.

The work will be carried out in rural settings of Himachal Pradesh state, in Northern India.

The Department of Informatics (IFI), UiO collaborates with SHE, Institute of Health and Society (Helsam) and their partners, specifically Swiburne University, Australia who have developed the acclaimed OPHELIA health literacy framework. Partners in India include the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), an Indian centre for excellence on public health research, and RPGMC, Tanda, a medical college in Himachal Pradesh state. HISP India is a R&D partner on this project, who will be responsible for developing and implementing digital interventions.

Three Masters students from Helsam are currently being jointly supervised as part of the project, and are conducting empirical work in Himachal Pradesh. The project has strong synergies with the EquityAMR project.
