Learning environment

The learning environment comprises physical, digital, organisational, educational, and psychosocial aspects that form your everyday life as a student. These factors influence your ability to acquire knowledge and are crucial for your physical and psychosocial well-being.

Speak up about the learning environment

Symbol of Speak upThe University of Oslo and the Faculty of Medicine depend on both your positive and negative feedback to improve our learning environment. This may include things you appreciate and would like us to do more of, or dangerous incidents, bullying, or other negative aspects of the physical or psychosocial learning environment. There are various ways to communicate your concerns to us.

Report any damages, deficiencies, or needs within our premises

  • Has a room been poorly cleaned?
  • Is there a light bulb out?
  • Are there slippery paths outside our buildings?
  • Are there technical deficiencies in any of our rooms or buildings?
  • Is there anything else that requires maintenance or repair?

Student guidance

Do you need someone to talk to? You can arrange a counselling session with one of our student advisors. No issue is too small or too large.

We offer help with practical matters related to your studies, such as which books are advisable to purchase, where to find information, as well as conversations and guidance on personal matters like loneliness, motivation or anything else you may be contemplating.

Our student guidance service is confidential.

The Ombud for Students

  • Do you need advice and guidance related to challenges in your study situation?
  • Would you like to report something negative about the learning environment anonymously?
  • Do you want more information about your rights and duties as a student or to know if your case is being handled correctly?
  • The Ombud for Students is a free legal advisory service for students. The Ombud for Students is bound by confidentiality.
