About FTI-NAM:
NAM technologies (New Approach Methodologies), in particular organoids and microphysiological systems (MPS), are rapidly emerging as transformative and strategic technologies with the potential to redefine the future of health and life sciences. By integrating stem cell biology, patient-derived material, tissue engineering, microfluidics, advanced analytics, and digital technologies, NAM platforms enable the development of highly predictive and human-relevant biomedical models that overcome major limitations of conventional animal models. These technologies offer new opportunities for understanding human biology, modelling disease, predicting drug response and toxicity, and accelerating the development of safer and more effective therapies, while simultaneously supporting the 3R principles through substantial reduction of animal experimentation. The core concept of FTI-NAM is to establish an integrated national platform for development, implementation, and translation of advanced NAM technologies.
The FTI-NAM project is led by Stefan Krauss and includes:
- Steven Wilson
- Espen Melum
- Hanne Scholz
- William (Bill) Louch
