Norwegian Neuroinformatics Node

The Norwegian Neuroinformatics Node is a node of the International Neuroinformatic Coordinating Facility.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the Norwegian Neuroinformatics Node are to introduce new opportunities for researchers in Norway in the domain of sharing and re-using experimental neuroscience data, using advanced tools for data analysis, and computational modeling of the brain. The Node also contributes to international efforts in the field of neuroinformatics through the INCF, the EU Human Brain Project, and the International Brain Initiative.

About

The Norwegian Neuroinformatics Node belongs to the International Neuroinformatic Coordinating Facility, INCF, an international organization promoting global neuroinformatics through a network of national nodes. The mission of INCF is to develop, evaluate, and endorse standards and best practices that embrace the principles of Open, FAIR, and Citable neuroscience. INCF also provides training on how standards and best practices facilitate reproducibility and enables the publishing of the entirety of research output, including data and code.

The Norwegian Node has established tools and infrastructure for digital brain atlasing, sharing, re-use and integration of image data through the use of atlases, and advanced computational modeling. The Node also delivers training in brain atlasing and computational neuroscience to researchers in Norway and internationally.

The Node offers

  • access to tools for data visualization and analysis, and computational modeling
  • services for collaborative research projects, as a vehicle to increase uptake and further user-driven development of neuroinformatics tools and infrastructures 
  • education and training in neuroinformatics in collaboration with the Norwegian Research School in Neuroscience
  • links to infrastructures for dementia disease research
