Scientific interests

My research focus is translational research on major global infectious diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis and Covid-19 with a focus on clinical intervention studies, vaccines, immune mechanisms and diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers with relevance for low-income countries and immune-directed personalized treatment.

My focus in recent years has been building networks, expertise, resources and infrastructure to be able to carry out clinical trials.

I am head of the research group Chronic Infections Research Group (CIRG) at the Department of Infectious Diseases at UiO and OUH, and have been the main supervisor for eight PhD students.
