Palliativ medisin

Forskergruppe Palliativ Medisin har som målsetting å bidra til økt kunnskap om pasientsentrert behandling og pleie for pasienter med alvorlig kreftsykdom gjennom forskning, formidling, kartlegging og systematisering av eksisterende kunnskap.

Forskergruppen er tilknyttet European Palliative Care Research Centre (PRC) som er Kreftforeningens senter for pasientsentrert behandling. PRC driftes fra Seksjon for lindrende behandling (SLB), Avdeling for Kreftbehandling (AKB), OUS.

Gruppen er tverrfaglig sammensatt og består av onkologer, psykologer, sykepleiere og ernæringsfysiologer med doktorgrad, og med spisskompetanse på områdene som PRC prioriterer. PRCs satsingsområder er; smerte og symptombehandling, ernæring/kakeksi, sentralnervøse manifestasjoner av kreft, psykososial helse samt utvikling og implementering av pasientrapporterte utfallsmål, fortrinnsvis elektroniske. Implementering av pasientsentrerte tjenester for bedre livskvalitet hos pasient og pårørende i form av utvikling og implementering av elektroniske pasientforløp for bruk i klinikk og forskning er et prioritert område, og er grunnlaget for to work-packages som ledes av PRC forskere i MATRIX; et Forskningssenter for Kreftbehandling med finansiering fra NFR og Kreftforeningen. 

PRC har et stort nasjonalt og internasjonalt nettverk med 25 samarbeidssentre fra samtlige norske helseregioner, alle deler av Europa, Canada, , og Australia. PRC leder eller deltar i flere store nasjonale og internasjonale multisenterstudier, og nye studier innen satsningsområdene er under planlegging. PRC arrangerer årlige internasjonale forskningsseminarer av meget høy kvalitet.

Forskergruppen har som målsetning å rekruttere flere stipendiater og post-doc. kandidater til palliativ forskning. Undervisning og forskningsformidling lokalt, regionalt, nasjonalt og på internasjonale arenaer utgjør en betydelig del av forskergruppens aktivitet.

AKB er akkreditert i ESMO som Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care, og forskergruppen har deltatt aktivt i dette arbeidet.
