Division of Cancer Medicine

The Division of Cancer Medicine is one of 19 divisions at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, with around 80 employees (2023). They contribute in the teaching of medical students, among others, and conduct research, dissemination and innovation.

The division has activities at Radiumhospitalet, Rikshospitalet, Ullevål and Aker Hospital.

The research is organised into 53 research groups. About 20 doctoral degrees are awarded annually. The research activities include clinical, translational and explanatory research, and a clinical trial unit. The Institute of Cancer Research is a part of the division, home to more than 380 researchers and belong to the forefront of world-wide cancer research.

In 2018 The Center for Cancer Biomedicine (CCB) was continued by the Center for Cancer Cell Reprogramming (CanCell).
In 2023 the division became host for the newly established Centre of Excellence - Precision Immunotherapy Alliance (PRIMA).

A number of regional core research facilities are run in the division:
Bioinformatics, confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, flow cytometry, proteomics, microarray and sequencing, genotyping, comparative medicine, and animal MRI.

The division is co-located with, and a member of, the innovation cluster Oslo Cancer Cluster, and students from Ullern High School do practice at the . The division is also host to Oslo University Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center (OUS-CCC)
