Faglig bakgrunn:

Desiree Eide tok doktorgraden sin ved Universitetet i Oslo for arbeidet sitt med implementering og evaluering av naloksonprogrammet i Norge (2017). Hun er utdannet som avansert klinisk sykepleier fra Johns Hopkins University i USA (2012). Hennes fokus har vært på sårbare grupper og hun har jobbet innenfor avhengighetsfeltet siden 2011. Hennes primære forskning er innenfor heroinavhengighet. I tillegg har hun jobbet med utvikling av et avansert klinisk sykepleier program ved Universitetet i Oslo, og var ansvarlig for undervisning i flere kurs for programmet (2013-2019).

Samarbeid:

Samarbeid med danske forskere fra Aarhus Universitet som studerer overdoser og utfall relatert til opioidvedlikeholdsbehandling.

Samarbeid med forskere fra Charles Universitet i Tsjekkia som bruker registerdata til å utforske og sammenligne utfall relatert til opioidvedlikeholdsbehandling.

Samarbeid med Helsedirektoratet og Oslo og Bergen kommuner for evaluering av distribusjonen av hjemmelaget nalokson.

Tidligere forskningssamarbeid med King's College London om en europeisk mixed methods-studie som utforsker effektiviteten av hjemmelaget nalokson (NalPORS).

Konsulent for United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for vurdering av håndtering av opioidoverdose i fengsel i Kenya.

Konsulent for Verdens helseorganisasjon (WHO) for indikatorer for overvåking av byenes fremgang i forebygging av ikke-smittsomme sykdommer og skader, med fokus på overdoseforebygging.
