Division of Molecular Nutrition
Division of molecular nutrition studies the correlation between energy metabolsim, obesity and comorbidities.
Teaching at the division
The division takes part in the teaching of Master's programme in clinical nutrition and for teaching nutrition in the professional study programme in medicine at the Department of Nutrition.
Research at the division
Research in the division aims to investigate and understand how obesity and insulin resistance are linked to energy metabolism. The expertise of the members range from molecular biology to cell and animal studies, epidemiological, as well as preventive and therapeutic intervention studies. The division’s research focus on three major research areas:
- The effects of dietary intervention with amino acid and, fatty acids in regulating energy metabolism in obesity
- Understanding the molecular mechanisms for how hyperglycemia, fatty acids, amino acids and physical activity affect insulin resistance, obesity and development of diabetes and comorbidities.
- Investigating the molecular mechanism linking obesity to inflammation and cancer and how inflammation and cancer may lead to cachexia.
