Prosjektets mål:

To explore the connections between a number of physical, psychological and behavioral factors and excessive fatigue, including pain, sleep duration, insomnia, sleepiness, shift-work factors, anxiety, depression, workaholism and presenteeism.

Prosjektets bakgrunn:

Fatigue in nurses may lead to absence and higher nursing turnover, a large problem given the global nursing shortage. Many physical, psychological, and behavioral factors that relate to fatigue have been researched, including pain, sleep factors, mental health and work-related factors. But there remain un- or underexplored factors including pain in the context of a working cohort (rather than a patient context), workaholism and presenteeism. Additionally, while pain, sleep factors, mental health and work-related factors have been studied as discrete entities in relation to fatigue, independent associations have not been explored. The project will utilize a study population of Norwegian nurses from the “SUrvey of Shift work, Sleep and Health (SUSSH)”.
